Airport ambition

‍To rapidly create additional departure capacity to accommodate growing Schengen passenger volumes while safeguarding service levels during peak periods, delivering a fully operational departure hall within six months.

‍Approach

‍Arlande strengthened the core project team that had to design, build, test and operationalize a temporary departure hall before the start of the May holiday period in 2017. We provided project management support, risk and quality control and ensured alignment between construction, operations, ICT, security and baggage processes.

As part of the project team, our project managers:

• Provided management support, process control, quality assurance and risk management
• Determined the appropriate flight and airline allocation
• Calculated the required operational capacity
• Optimized passenger flows after opening
• Managed the testing of the new security lanes
• Advised on the integration with the underlying baggage hall, including capacity constraints and structural stability risks

Our strength lay in seamlessly aligning process, technology and organization while the airport continued operating at full capacity.
